Baggage

Carry-on Baggage

All Virgin Australia guests are permitted to take carry-on baggage onboard our aircraft free of charge. Some items are not suitable for travel, while others are restricted from flying internationally.

Checked Baggage

A guest’s checked (check-in) baggage allowance is determined by the fare type purchased. Extra baggage can be purchased online, via our Guest Contact Centre or at the airport.

Oversized and Fragile Items

Oversized baggage can be checked in, provided each item does not exceed maximum weight and size limitations. Items that exceed restrictions must be shipped as Freight. Fragile items are permitted to travel, as long as they are packaged properly.

Dangerous Goods

Some items are considered Dangerous Goods and cannot be carried onboard an aircraft – in either carry-on or checked baggage – under any circumstances.

Delayed and Damaged Baggage

Delayed or lost baggage, or damage to baggage and/or baggage contents, should be reported to Virgin Australia within the baggage reclaim area at the airport.
