Checking in and departing MEL

Virgin Australia’s flights from Melbourne to Bali depart from T2, the International Terminal, of Melbourne Airport, also known as Tullamarine Airport. T2 is directly adjacent to T3, the Domestic Terminal for Virgin Australia.

Located approximately 25km from Melbourne CBD, the easiest ways to get to the International Terminal (T2) of Melbourne Airport include taxi, rideshare and SkyBus. However, long-term parking is also available to book before you depart for your trip to Bali. The cost for parking at Melbourne Airport for access to the International Terminal (T2) can will vary depending on the parking option chosen, how far in advance you’re making the booking, and how long you need the spot. The most expensive parking option would be to pay the drive-up daily rate. Check the Melbourne Airport website for parking options and rates.

Checking in at Melbourne Airport International Terminal (T2)

The Virgin Australia’s check-in counters for flights from Melbourne to Bali are located on the first floor of T2. The counters are staffed 3 hours prior to departure, and staff are available at this time to process bookings or assist with changes. .

Check in for Virgin Australis's international flights, including flights from Melbourne to Bali, closes 60 minutes before scheduled departure. It’s recommended that you are checked in with bags dropped at least 90 minutes before the scheduled time of your flight to Bali.

Arriving at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport

Virgin Australia’s flights from Melbourme to Bali will arrive at the International Terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport (DPS).

Bali Airport has a range of facilities and services for international arrivals, including cafés, restaurants, bathrooms, showers, prayer rooms, currency exchange, ATMs, local SIM cards and many options for onward transfers.

Bali entry requirements

There are 4 main documents currently required for Australians flying to Bali. These are a valid passport, a visa (Visa on Arrival), proof of onward travel, and the new All Indonesia Declaration Form. Leaving Bali Airport

Whether you’re heading from Bali Airport to Kuta, Seminyak, Uluwatu, Canggu or Ubud, there are plenty of options to get to your destination, including:

Ride-share (Grab and Gojek) – Uber isn’t available in Bali, so download the ride-sharing apps Grab or Gojek to order a pickup from the airport. You’ll find the Grab lounge and pick-up area in arrivals – take advantage of the aircon and WiFi while you wait for your ride. Gojek only offers pickup outside of the airport.
Taxi – Head to the official taxi counter as you exit the terminal. All rates are a fixed fare depending on your destination.
Hotel transfer - Many of Bali’s main hotels offer airport pick-ups for guests arriving at Bali airport. This may be included in your room rate package or you can pay an additional fee, so check with your hotel to organise before you depart Australia.
Pre-booked airport transfers – Pre-book a shuttle service to take you to your accommodation on your arrival in Bali. While shuttles are a low-cost option, keep in mind there may be a few stops before you get to your accommodation, so it can take a while.
Private driver - While a private driver is usually more expensive than the other transport options, you will be driven directly to your accommodation in comfort.
