In-flight Entertainment on Domestic Services

live2air

live2air is Virgin Australia’s outstanding in-flight entertainment service streaming 24 live FOXTEL/AUSTAR channels to selected 737 aircraft on most domestic routes (depending on signal availability). From your own personal seat back screen live2air keeps you up-to-date, with live news and sport or enjoy any of your FOXTEL AUSTAR favourites at 40,000 ft.

In addition to live2air we also offer a selection of recent release pay-per-view movies every month on longer flights over 2 hours. live2air programming schedules are subject to change at any time without notice and due to the live nature of the service, Virgin Australia does not have the ability to censor programming.

live2air may be complimentary, otherwise it is available for purchase using your credit card for $9.90 AU or $10.00 AU in cash onboard. Selected Virgin Money credit cards offer a 50% discount, so check with your card provider and save.

Unfortunately live2air is not available on any A330, E190 or ATR aircraft types.

Portable Media Players

The Portable Media Player (digEplayer) is your personal in-flight entertainment system. It comes pre-loaded with a selection of movies, TV shows, games, podcasts and a great range of music to suit every taste.

A hire fee of $15.00 AU applies per digEplayer unit (this includes headsets you can keep). Share with a friend for just $7.50 AU each – our Portable Media Players have two headset outlets, so that two people can enjoy a movie together. Listen onboard for cabin crew instructions on how to hire a Portable Media Player. Portable Media Players are available on selected Australian domestic and international short haul services. All Flexi, Premium and Business Class guests will be offered complimentary use of a portable media player on services where seat back in-flight Entertainment is unavailable.

The A330 In-flight Entertainment System will keep you entertained for hours. Complimentary for all guests after take-off, use your touch screen or handset to navigate through: six channels of the latest movies, nine channels of TV and music videos, and a wide selection of audio entertainment.

Portable Media Players

Test your general knowledge in a game of trivia against other guests. Show off your skills with a round of golf. Or enter the imaginary world of Disney. Our games selection entertains all interests and ages.

In-seat Power

We have installed power outlets to power your electronic devices.

Power provided is at USA power standards of 110V AC 60 cycles (Hz) – NOT Australian power standards of 220V AC 50 cycles (Hz). The maximum power draw is 150 watts.  The system will automatically check to make sure there is not too much power draw.

The outlet unit will accept almost all plug types, including US two or three-pin, Australian and New Zealand two or three-pin, and European and UK three-pin.

Where can I plug in my device?

  • Business – located between seats, below the audio jack and USB port
  • Premium Economy – below the seat
  • Economy – cabin crew can assist guests with charging devices 

USB Connectivity

Connect a compatible device to our in-seat USB port, to view photos, display Adobe Acrobat files (PDFs), and listen to MP3 music files, via our in-flight entertainment system.

Cameras, MP3 players, USB storage/flash drives, SD card readers are all compatible. Our systems cater for anything that has a USB plug and is a USB mass media device – but doesn't require special software to be loaded onto our system. Note: For safety reasons we only accept specific file types, under a maximum file size.

If your device enables charging via USB, simply plug it into the USB port.

Virgin Australia’s state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment is designed to indulge all guests, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Closed Captions*

We have a selection of onboard movies and safety and informational videos available with closed captions (CC) on international long haul flights.

Our movies are also listed in our in-flight entertainment guide onboard, and are clearly marked on our cutting-edge touch-screen system RED. Just go to 'Video Settings' to activate the function when playing a movie.

Inductive Headphones*

MusicLink Inductive Headphones are available for use on our international long haul flights. This revolutionary technology is designed to enhance the quality of our audio entertainment for hearing aid users.

MusicLink Inductive Headphones are for use with T-Coil enabled hearing aids or Cochlear Implants. The dual ear hooks fit comfortably behind your ears (or along side your BTE hearing aid), and plug directly into our in-flight entertainment system. Just switch your hearing aid to the "T" position and you are ready to go.  MusicLink Inductive Headphones are available by request from cabin crew onboard any Virgin Australia International flight.
