Duty free and customs


The serious part of international travel is clearing Customs. Learn exactly what you will need to do and what should not travel by visiting:

Duty Free

Duty Free shopping is the fun start of your international travel journey, but restrictions do apply.

Normal baggage allowances apply to your Duty Free purchases, and if applicable, excess baggage charges may apply. If your purchases go over the carry-on baggage limits, you will need to check in your Duty Free shopping.

Note: International to international transit passengers may be subject to additional airport security screening at the point of transfer. All Duty Free liquids, aerosols and gels may be confiscated if above maximum limitations and packing requirements.

Entering New Zealand

Entering New Zealand Duty Free Limits

Alcoholic beverages 4.5L of wine or; 4.5L of beer; 3 bottles (or other containers) each containing not more than 1125ml of spirits, Liquer or other spirituous beverages. Must be 18+ years
Tobacco, cigarettes and cigars 50 cigarettes or 50 grams of tobacco or cigars or a mixture of all three weighing not more than 50 grams. Must be 18+ years
Other When entering New Zealand you are entitled to a personal goods concession. This allows you to bring in goods free of duty (excluding alcohol and tobacco products) obtained overseas and/or purchased duty free in New Zealand, which have a total combined value of NZ$700. Customers cannot combine concession with another customer. For parents travelling with children, parents may claim a concession their child provided the goods claimed are the child’s own and are appropriate for their use.

* Please note that New Zealand law prohibits the sale of alcoholic drinks and tobacco products to anyone in New Zealand under the age of 18 years. This restriction applies to New Zealand duty-free outlets.

Due to restriction mandated by the Australian Government, it is forbidden to carry liquids, aerosols or gels during transit at Abu Dhabi airport if your final destination is in Australia.
