Monday 20 July 2026: Virgin Australia has dropped one of its biggest sales of the year, releasing one million sale fares from $49* (one-way, Economy Lite, Sydney-Ballina Byron) across 34 destinations and slashing the cost of holiday packages.
The major sale comes as new research from money.com.au found nearly half (46%) of surveyed Australians rank saving for a holiday as their top financial goal for 2026, ahead of buying a home or saving for retirement, highlighting the continued demand for affordable travel^^^.
To help Aussies make their holiday budgets go further, Virgin Australia Holidays powered by Hopper is also offering discounted return flight and accommodation packages to destinations including Cairns from $390 per person (based on two travellers, from Brisbane return on Economy Lite fares, with two nights’ accommodation)** and Bali from $655 per person (based on two travellers, from Melbourne return on Economy Lite fares, with two nights’ accommodation)**.
Travellers looking to fly at the pointy end can also nab Business Class fares from as low as $219* one-way (Sydney to Ballina-Byron) which includes priority check-in and boarding, Lounge access, reclined leather seating, and all-inclusive onboard dining.

Virgin Australia Executive, Libby Minogue, said this sale is the perfect opportunity for Aussies to book their next getaway.

Velocity Frequent Flyer Points Earn for Sale Fares
^Velocity members can earn 5 Velocity Points per $1 spent on eligible domestic and international short haul flights with Virgin Australia (where a flight is operated by Virgin Australia with a VA flight number). A Velocity membership number must be added to the booking to earn Points, and the name on the booking must match the name on the Velocity membership. Reward Seat bookings and bookings on charter services will not earn Velocity Points. Silver, Gold and Platinum members may earn bonus Points, depending on their tier. Earn rates are correct as at 20 Dec 2024 and are subject to change. Velocity Frequent Flyer Points Earn for Virgin Australia Holiday Packages
^^Velocity members will earn Velocity Points per $1 spent on eligible Holiday bookings with Hopper via the Hopper Portal. Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus members will continue to earn their tier bonus Velocity Points separately. Silver members earn an extra 1.5 bonus Points per $1 spent on eligible Holiday bookings, Gold members earn an extra 2.25 bonus Points per $1 spent on eligible Holiday bookings, Platinum members earn an extra 3 bonus Points per $1 spent on eligible Holiday bookings and Platinum Plus members earn an extra 4.5 bonus Points per $1 spent on eligible Holiday bookings.
