Thursday, 11 June 2026: Velocity Frequent Flyer members can now earn and redeem Velocity Points at Event Cinemas and Village Cinemas, thanks to a new partnership launching at 70 cinema locations and more than 600 screens nationwide.
From today, members can redeem movie tickets starting from just 2,000 Velocity Points# and earn 1 Velocity Point per eligible $1 spent+ when buying movie tickets and Candy Bar favourites, including Parlour Lane popcorn. Members will also unlock exclusive perks, including Candy Bar combo upgrades*, plus the flexibility to offset the cost of a movie ticket and Candy Bar purchases using Points + Pay.
The partnership taps into Aussies love of the movies, with cinema remaining one of the country’s favourite ways to spend a night out. New research from EVT (owner of Event Cinemas) has also found 73 per cent of surveyed movie-goers consider going to the movies as important to their overall wellbeing, highlighting the continued love of the cinema experience**.
To celebrate the launch, Velocity members can unlock limited-time offers and perks, including 1,000 bonus Velocity Points, plus a free small popcorn with every eligible movie ticket purchased by 15 July 2026^.
To earn or redeem Velocity Points on movie tickets, members simply log into their Velocity account via the app or website, sign in to their cinema rewards account, select their preferred session and complete their booking.
Commentary
Velocity Frequent Flyer Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Cleary, said the partnership delivers a new lifestyle category for Velocity members and more opportunities to be rewarded with even small points balances.

From 12.00AM 10 June 2026 AEST until 11.59PM 15 July 2026 AEST (“Offer Period”) Velocity Members who earn or redeem Velocity Points on a Velocity Ticket at participating cinemas in the Offer Period may be eligible to:
- receive one Small Popcorn per Velocity Ticket purchased during the Offer Period (“Popcorn Offer”), excludes Gold Class and Event Boutique sessions. The Small Popcorn will automatically be allocated per Velocity Ticket at the time of purchase and there is no limit to the amount of times a Velocity Member may receive this Small Popcorn Offer. Small Popcorn to be collected at the cinema on the movie session date, which may sit outside the Offer Period; and
- earn 1,000 bonus Points on their first Velocity Ticket cinema visit during the Offer Period (“Bonus Points Offer”). The Points for an eligible transaction will be awarded up to 24 hours after the movie session. This Bonus Points Offer can only be received once by a Velocity Member for one movie session.

"Excluded Transaction" means the purchase of an Event Cinemas or Village Cinemas gift card or movie ticket voucher, booking fees or surcharges, any purchase of a movie ticket that is not a 'Velocity Ticket', and any portion of a purchase that is made with an Event Cinemas or Village Cinemas gift card, movie ticket e-voucher or by redeeming Velocity Points. Velocity Members can redeem a minimum of 2,000 Velocity Points per transaction for all or part of an Eligible Purchase with participating Event Cinemas and Village Cinemas. To redeem Points, a Velocity Member must (1) log in to your Velocity account via the Velocity website or app. In the app, go to the Earn tab and click on the Event Cinemas or Village Cinemas logo, or on the website click Book now on the partner page to be redirected to the Event Cinemas or Village Cinemas website; (2) sign in to your Cinebuzz or Vrewards account (or join if you are not a member); (3) select your cinema, movie, session time and movie ticket; and (4) complete your Eligible Purchase using Points in full or by using 'Points and Pay’ to redeem some Points and make a payment (including debit or credit card payment, gift card redemption or a combination) for the remaining price.
“Eligible Purchase” means any purchase made by a Velocity Member when they access the Event Cinemas or Village Cinemas website via the steps above, including all movie ticket, food and/or drink purchases, and booking fee purchases made through that channel.
