Wednesday 6 May 2026: Virgin Australia is bringing a viral food sensation to the skies, unveiling a new Cheeseburger Toastie as part of its refreshed inflight menus.

The toastie, filled with 100% Australian ground beef, melted cheese, ketchup, mustard and a pickle, finished with a cheesy sauce, has taken the internet by storm, garnering more than 19.8 million TikTok views. It comes as the humble Ham and Cheese toastie remains a firm favourite onboard, with nearly a quarter of a million sold on Virgin Australia flights each year.

The refreshed Economy menu also introduces a new selection of buy-on-board options alongside the Cheeseburger Toastie, including corn chips with zesty salsa, a golden falafel wrap, and creamy mac and cheese. The beverage range has also been expanded with new additions such as Hard Rated Lemon – Australia’s most popular ready-to-drink alcoholic beverage*.

With taste reduced by up to 30 per cent at altitude^, Virgin Australia has also unveiled its new Business Class menu developed using guest feedback and extensive taste testing to deliver flavour where it matters most. The new line-up of dishes across breakfast, lunch and dinner, includes ricotta chocolate and hazelnut crepes, beef with creamy polenta and pesto fusilli salad. All premium food and beverage menu items served in Business Class are included in the airfare.

Virgin Australia continues to serve complimentary tea, coffee and water to all Economy guests on every flight**.

"Our new Cheeseburger Toastie brings a viral food trend to the skies, building on the popularity of one of our most loved onboard items. Last year alone we sold more than a quarter of a million toasties, so we’re expecting the Cheeseburger Toastie to be a big hit!"

Pay with Points for Onboard Purchases***

Velocity Frequent Flyer members can use Pay with Points for onboard food and beverage purchases on eligible Virgin Australia domestic and short-haul international flights. The program feature reinforces Velocity’s status as Australia’s only airline loyalty program offering inflight Points redemptions on food and beverage items.

The new Virgin Australia Economy menu is available from today and the Business Class menu from 27 May 2026^^.
