Tuesday 7 April 2026: Virgin Australia is redefining how Australians search and book flights with the launch of its all-in-one flight search tool, bringing together cash fares, Points + Pay, Velocity Frequent Flyer Reward Seats and cabin types into one easy-to-use monthly calendar view.

In an Australian-first, the new search functionality makes it faster and simpler to instantly compare options, plan travel, and choose the best value across Virgin Australia domestic and international flights, all while seamlessly choosing between Points, Points + Pay and cash fares.

By also bringing Reward Seat availability into the same view, the tool makes it easier than ever for Velocity members to find and secure Reward Seats, giving them a more complete view of availability and cabin type in one search.

The feature will be introduced progressively across the Virgin Australia website and app as part of a staged rollout, with full availability to all customers by mid-year. The all-in-one calendar simplifies the booking experience by removing the need for multiple searches and providing customers with a clearer, more flexible view of their options.

Virgin Australia General Manager, Digital, Alex Plummer, said the update marks a significant shift in how Australians search and book flights.

“Today, customers are typically limited to searching one route at a time, which can make it difficult to compare options and find the best value,” Mr Plummer said.

“This changes that, where for the first time, customers can see every available way to book flights in a single calendar view, unlocking far greater choice across dates and fares.”

“It’s a step change in the booking experience, giving customers a simpler, more transparent way to find the flights that work best for them.”

The new flight search functionality builds on Virgin Australia’s track record of customer-led innovation. In recent years, the airline became the first in Australia to introduce Pets in Cabin flights on eligible domestic routes, baggage tracking and rewards for sitting in the middle seat. Today’s announcement follows the airline’s Australian-first OpenAI collaboration, which is set to redefine how customers plan and shop for travel using ChatGPT.
