You’ll be great in this role if you have…

To be considered for our flight crew team as a First Officer on a B737, you’ll need:

  • A current Australian ATPL or Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and passes in all Australian ATPL theory subjects
  • Australian Instrument Rating with MEA, IAP 2D and IAP 3D endorsement
  • English language proficiency Level 6
  • A valid Australian Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • MCC Certificate 
  • Have the following relevant experience:
    • A minimum total flight time of 500 hours with 300 hours in command of a powered fixed wing aircraft (excluding ICUS), that includes 200 hours in command of a multi engine aircraft (excluding ICUS), or
    • A minimum total flight time of 500 hours with 300 hours in command of a turbine powered fixed wing aircraft, or
    • A minimum total flight time of 500 hours on aircraft certified for operation by a crew of at least 2 pilots (multi-crew aircraft).

The process for being considered for Virgin Australia Pilot jobs has been designed to be as streamlined and comfortable as possible for you, while allowing us to carefully assess your skills and experience against our requirements. You’ll receive email updates as your application progresses, even if at any stage you do not progress. Our Pilot recruitment process is outlined below.

Apply via the Virgin Australia Careers website

The first step is to apply via our careers website. There you’ll find current openings and be able to submit your application of expression of interest and respond to questions that we ask to understand your experience and qualifications.

Application reviewed by our talent team

Once your application or expression of interest is submitted, it’ll be reviewed by one of our talent team against the eligibility criteria.

Complete a video interview

After your application or expression of interest has been reviewed, you may be invited to complete a video interview. Done in your own time via your desktop, mobile or tablet, the video interview is an opportunity for us to learn more about you and ask more questions that relate to the role.

Attend an Assessment Centre

The next stage in the Pilot recruitment process is to attend an Assessment Centre, where you’ll participate in a variety of activities that measure your level of competency against key section criteria, your behaviours and team dynamics, and includes a simulator assessment.

Outcome

After the Assessment Centre, your performance in the different assessments will be reviewed in line with our assessment criteria and you’ll be advised of the outcome.
