1. Passport requirements
Australians travelling to Indonesia require a passport that is valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Indonesia.
It’s also important to note that Indonesian authorities have strict standards for the condition of your passport, and entry can be refused for even minor damage or wear and tear. For seamless entry into Bali, ensure your passport:
- Has no tears, folds, or cuts on the pages, particularly the photo page
- Is free from signs of water damage on the cover or inside pages
- Has clear and legible information on the photo page
- Has no marks over your photo or in the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ)
- Has no pages missing or removed
- Shows no signs of alterations or tampering.
2. e-VoA or VoA
All international travellers require a visa to enter Bali, which costs approximately IDR 500,000 (around AU$50) and is valid for up to 30 days.
Australian passport holders can obtain either:
- An e-Visa on Arrival (e-VoA) - Apply online up to 48 hours before travel to Indonesia
- A Visa on Arrival (VoA) - Available upon arrival at Bali Airport
Visas are valid for 30 days and can be extended once for another 30 days (for a maximum total of 60 days). All Australians will need a visa for Bali, including children and infants.
To apply for your visa to Bali, you will need a passport with at least 6 months’ validity from your entry date.
3. All Indonesia Declaration Form
From 1 September 2025, all travellers entering Indonesia (including Bali) must complete the new All Indonesia Declaration Form. This single form replaces the old customs declaration and SATUSEHAT Health Pass, combining customs, immigration and biosecurity requirements in one.
The form can be filled out online up to 3 days before you arrive, and once submitted you’ll receive a QR code that must be presented on arrival in Bali.
Transit passengers whose final destination is outside Indonesia do not need to complete the form.
You can complete the All Indonesia Declaration Form via the official website, with iOS and Android apps available from 1 September 2025.
4. Proof of onward travel
Australian citizens need proof of a return flight home or an onward ticket out of Indonesia to be able to enter Bali on the VoA. It is advisable to bring both a digital and printed copy.
