For Guests with Different Dietary Needs

Domestic and International Short Haul Flights

A range of vegetarian and gluten-free options are available for purchase from our On-board Menu. If these are unsuitable, guests are welcome to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages on-board.

Requests for special meal options are not available on domestic and international short haul flights.

International Long Haul Flights

To satisfy the dietary and medical needs of all our guests we offer a selection of special meals on our International Long Haul Flights

Note: We recommend guests who suffer from allergies (such as peanut allergies) bring their own meal onboard (subject to Enhanced Security Measures for carry-on baggage) as we are unable to guarantee that our meals are completely allergen free.

Guests are able to select vegetarian and child’s meal options at the time of booking. For all other special meals, please contact our Guest Contact Centre on 13 67 89 at least 48 hours prior to your flight’s scheduled departure.

Special meals available on Virgin Australia international long haul flights include:
Code Meal Name Description
BBML Baby Meal Strained meat, vegetables, fruits and desserts and juices are provided for babies.
BLML Bland Meal Does not contain spices, garlic, onions or other strong seasonings. Is also low in salt and fat.
CHML Child’s Meal Food that children enjoy, such as hamburgers, fish fingers and sweet treats.
DBML Diabetic Meal High in complex carbohydrates, high in fibre and low in fat and calories. This meal is suitable for non insulin and insulin dependant diabetics.
GFML Gluten Free Meal Gluten is not used in the preparation of this meal.
LFML Low Fat/Low Cholesterol Meal Lean meats, low fat dairy products and high fibre wholegrain breads and cereals.
AVML Asian Vegetarian Meal Spicy vegetarian combinations with limited use of dairy foods.
VGML Vegetarian Vegan Meal Prepared without products from animal sources. No dairy products or honey. High protein foods.
VLML Lacto-ovo Vegetarian Meal As above, but with dairy products.
KSML Kosher Meal Prepared according to Jewish dietary laws. Purchased from reputable manufacturers in each port.
HNML Hindu Meal No beef, veal, pork, raw or smoked fish. Spicy foods are acceptable.
MOML Muslim Meal No pork or alcohol used in preparation. Food items are sourced from approved Halal suppliers.
LSML Low Salt Low sodium foods and cooking ingredients.
NLML Low Lactose No dairy products.
FPML Fruit Platter Meal A variety of fruits, dependant of the season.
LCML Low Calorie Meal Low in fat and calories.
SFML Seafood Meal Allows guests to put a preference for seafood, specific seafood items cannot be requested.
VJML Vegetarian Jain Meal Strict vegetarian dish, prepared Indian style. No meat/poultry/fish/seafood/root or bulbous vegetables, including mushrooms or dairy.
RVML Raw Vegetable Meal Combination of raw fruit and vegetables.
