Our commitment to Reconciliation
Virgin Australia Group has long been committed to sustainable employment outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and has proudly supported many community organisations dedicated to improving education, social and health outcomes.
Since launching our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy in 2009, Virgin Australia has taken meaningful steps to embed reconciliation across the organisation.
From culturally sensitive recruitment practices and cultural capability training to the formation of our Indigenous Working Group in 2018, we’ve built a foundation that supports First Nations employment, celebrates culture, and strengthens relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The extraordinary dedication of these team members from across divisions, who volunteered their involvement, has enabled us to develop Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP) that are formal commitments to meaningful, practical actions that advance reconciliation within our organisation and communities.
Since the launch of our first Reflect RAP in 2022, we have deepened our commitment to cultural learning, community engagement, and creating a respectful workplace.
In 2025, we launched our second Innovate RAP that builds on the foundations of our first RAP, with strengthened partnerships, accountability and tangible steps towards cultural recognition.
