Events in Sydney

There’s always plenty to see and do in Sydney. If you haven’t already booked, don’t miss The international blockbuster musical JERSEY BOYS, telling the true-life story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. In January, Sydney’s golden ticket arrives with Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. Experience the wonders of Wonka, get ready for the Oompa-Loompas, incredible inventions, costumes and sets and more. Sydney festival also returns, transforming Sydney with a bold cultural celebration based on big ideas and cutting edge art and performance.

West Side Story takes the iconic floating stage at Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour in March. Encounter the wildness of youth and ecstasy of love as this modern day Romeo and Juliet.

Every Easter, the country and city join together at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Sydney Showground. In April and exclusive to Sydney, Saturday Night Fever returns in a blazing new stage version that propels the cult classic to phenomenal new heights.

Experience one of the most iconic and loved Australian films of all time in this big, brash and very cheeky musical – Muriel’s Wedding.

Sydney Beaches

Along with superb ocean beaches, Sydney has a stellar collection of harbour oases with gentle waves and shaded parks. Some harbour side escapes come with smart cafes and bars, where an artisanal gelato is never too far away.

At beautiful Vaucluse in the eastern suburbs, Nielsen Park is a favourite with its netted bay, sandy foreshore and shady park behind.

At Mosman on the north side of the harbour, Balmoral Breach has a netted swimming enclosure, a serene, shade park, sailing boats for hire and causal cafes and bistros.

At Watsons Bay, sheltered by the protective knuckle of South Head, Camp Cove is a pocket-sized delight with a grassy knoll at one end and a fabulous beach kiosk on the other.

There are world-famous Bondi and Manly, well-kept secret beaches, and lovely secluded beaches in Australia’s oldest national park, the Royal National Park.

Outdoor and Adventure

Find a new way to explore Sydney’s natural wonder. Sydney has hundreds of kilometres of scenic walks that take in the coast, the harbour, national parks and important cultural heritage sites.

The Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk is an iconic 6km path along the coast, taking in surf beaches, cafes and amazing views, while the Hermitage Foreshore Walk is an easy 1.8km track around the harbour bays of Vaucluse.

The Spit Bridge to Manly is a 10km walk around north shore bays and beaches and through the bushland of Sydney Harbour National park.To the North of the city, the Aboriginal Heritage Walk is a self-guided trial that takes in rock art and engravings of the Guringai people in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

Sydney’s Northern Beaches are also home to the Barrenjoey Lighthouse Track, a lovely walk from the base of the Barrenjoey Headland to the heritage lighthouse, which offers great views over Pittwater, Lion island and the Ocean.

For something unique, explore Sydney’s harbour by kayak on sunrise tour or board a yacht for a peaceful day of sailing.

Food, Wine and Waterfront dining

In Sydney, our love of all things coastal and aquatic translates to waterside dining.

North of Sydney, North Bondi Fish is doing perfectly beachy likes of beer battered fish and chips. Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, home to a savvy modern Italian menu and one of the best restaurant views in the world.

Coogee Pavilion, a multi level temple dedicated to fun in the sun with a rooftop bar that has crisp drinks and great menu.

At Balmoral Beach The Bathers Pavilion, housed in a superb Art Deco building never fails to thrill.

At Freshwater, Pilu at Freshwater has a full flavoured contemporary Italian food.

For a cool and casual vibe, Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel is a must.

Stay a little longer in NSW

Take the Coast Road

Explore the Royal National Park, where you’ll discover rainforests, creeks, sea-sculptures sandstone headlands plus wild stretches of coastal heath.

Further south, stope at Bald Hill Lookout for an amazing Panorama along the coast, before heading down to Stanwell Park beach for a walk or swim. The scenic climax of the drive is the 665m long Sea Cliff Bridge.

Take a stroll around Wollongong Harbour and try some of the city’s dining options. Hike along the boardwalk at Minnamurra Rainforest, where giant roots creep across the forest floor in the shadow of the Great Dividing Range, stope for fish and chips at Kiama and marvel at the famous blowhole.

North Coast NSW

The NSW North Coast is a Summer wonderland of uncrowded beaches, tranquil waterways, verdant hinterland and World Heritage-listed rainforest. Swim in secluded bays, learn to surf on legendary breaks, ride camels on the beach, snorkel on pristine reefs, eat fish and chips by the sand and watch the sun set from the deck of a beachside pub. Along the way, discover vibrant food festivals, local producers, and boutique breweries and distilleries.

Must see places to visit include Post Stephens, Newcastle, Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour.
