    Virgin Australia’s flights to Sydney typically arrive at Terminal 2 of Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, also known as Sydney Airport, Mascot Airport or Kingsford Smith Airport.

    Guests with checked baggage can collect bags from the baggage claim carousels on the ground floor. Trolleys are available to borrow for a small fee from inside the terminal if needed.

    Leaving Sydney Airport

    Central Sydney (CBD) is approximately 8 kilometres from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) Airport, with transport options including taxi, rideshare, or the convenient and budget-friendly Airport Link. The Airport Link connects the airport with the Sydney CBD, Kings Cross and North Sydney, with services running every 8-10 minutes during peak periods. Car rental is also available within the terminal if not already arranged. 

    Transfer times and cost guide (to Sydney CBD) :

    • Taxi (20-30 mins): $60 fixed fare to the Sydney CBD from the airport taxi rank ($80 for maxi taxis), including tolls and airport fees. Fixed fares apply within the CBD zone, other destinations are metered
    • Rideshare (20-30mins): Usually $40–$70+, depending on demand and surge pricing. An airport fee will be added to your trip, as well as any tolls.
    • Airport link (10 – 22mins,depending on station): From around $20+ per adult (one-way), depending on time of day

    Departing from Melbourne Airport (MEL)

    Located approximately 23km from Melbourne CBD, the easiest ways to get to Melbourne Airport include taxi, rideshare and Skybus. Short and long-term parking is also available to book ahead of your departure. This includes Value Parking and Value Express (free shuttle to terminals every 15mins), Terminal Parking (3min to Terminal 3), Valet Parking (2min walk to Terminal 3), and Premium Self Park (2min walk to Terminal 3).


    Checking in at Melbourne Airport

    Virgin Australia domestic check-in kiosks and bag drop counters can be found in Terminal 3 of Melbourne Airport.

    We recommend arriving at the airport at least 45 minutes before your flight from Melbourne to Sydney – 60 minutes if you plan to check baggage. Keep in mind check-in closes 30 minutes before departure and it’s essential allow for sufficient time to go through security.
