Your in-flight entertainment device options

Bring your own phone, tablet or laptop to stream our in-flight entertainment on selected short-haul international and domestic services. This excludes services operated by ATR aircraft. Make sure you download or update the Virgin Australia Entertainment App or prepare your laptop before you fly. And remember – charge your device and pack your headphones.

Setting up your device for in-flight entertainment

For iPad®, iPhone®, iPod® touch and AndroidTM devices

  1. Download Virgin Australia’s free Entertainment App from the App StoreTM or Google PlayTM store. Minimum requirements: iOS 11 (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch) with app version 6.1.11, Android 7 with app version 6.1.15. Unfortunately, older devices may not handle the features in this app.
  2. Once on board, go to your device settings to switch flight mode on
  3. Then activate WiFi and connect to the VirginAustralia wireless network
  4. Open the Entertainment App, which will launch your device browser — then you can watch, listen, read and play.

For Windows laptops with Microsoft Silverlight*

  1. Ensure the latest version of Microsoft® Silverlight® and Internet Explorer® is installed.
  2. Visit our test page at to confirm your device is ready for your next flight.
  3. Once on board, open Internet Explorer and visit — then you can watch, listen, read and play.
