Virgin Atlantic Airways Cabin Classes

Virgin Atlantic operates a three-class service: Upper Class (the airline’s Business Class), Premium Economy and Economy.

Upper Class


Passengers travelling in Upper Class enjoy their own personal space, an 11 inch screen and have access to a private bar. Guests can recline in the seat for take-off and landing then lay flat on a comfortable bed during flight.The Upper Class Suite is a product which has won some of the most prestigious design awards in the industry and is onboard all aircraft in the airline’s fleet.

Premium Economy


In Premium Economy, customers can enjoy comfortable and spacious leather seats with in-seat power available and entertainment. Passengers also have access to a social space at the front of the cabin where customers can help themselves to treats, snacks and drinks throughout the flight.



Virgin Atlantic’s Economy Class aims to give maximum value for money with space saving seats that maximise legroom. Complimentary in-seat power, in-flight entertainment, food and drinks are also offered.  


Virgin Australia codeshare with Virgin Atlantic Airways. This means that a customer’s itinerary and ticket may reflect a Virgin Australia flight number, however the flight is operated by Virgin Atlantic. In this instance customers must check in with Virgin Atlantic as they are the operating carrier. Check in with Virgin Atlantic can occur via the following channels:

The customer must have their Virgin Atlantic booking reference or ticket number to utilise online check in or the Virgin Atlantic app which is available within 24 hours of departure.

If the customer’s first flight is operated by Virgin Australia Check in with Virgin can occur via the following channels:

Airport information screens display flight information concerning applicable Virgin Australia and Virgin Atlantic flight numbers.

You should be checked in for your international flight at least 90 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. For further details see Check-in information.


Carry-on Baggage

Your carry-on baggage allowance will depend on the operating carrier’s policy for each sector. The operating carrier of each sector is detailed in your itinerary.

Checked Baggage

Your bags will be checked to your final destination when purchased in a single ticket, offering you a seamless customer experience.

Virgin Atlantic Airways Lounge Access

Velocity Platinum and Gold members, and guests travelling in Business class on Virgin Atlantic operated services receive complimentary entry into Virgin Atlantic operated lounges in selected cities.

Velocity Frequent Flyer
