Virgin Australia Makes Starlight Wishes Come True

Virgin Australia Airlines is the official wish partner of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, announced today at a special ceremony at the Starlight Express Room in the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne to celebrate the Starlight’s 7000th wish in Australia.

Group Executive Corporate Communications Danielle Keighery said the airline was extremely proud of the partnership that would provide families the opportunity of a life changing experience in very difficult circumstances.

“Virgin Australia Airlines is excited to be able to make children’s wishes a reality and bring some much needed happiness to many families who are experiencing hardship and despair while their child is unwell due to serious injury or disability.

“The entire Virgin Australia Airlines team will enthusiastically welcome each Starlight Wish child and their family onboard our aircraft on what will be a memory-filled holiday.

“As Wish-Granting Partner, the airline will carry Starlight children and their families across our domestic network to many favored tourist destinations, such as the Gold Coast,” she said.

Ms Keighery said that partnership underscored Virgin Australia Airlines’ commitment to community and was aimed at helping as many children as possible.

“The team at the Starlight Foundation performs such outstanding work, Virgin Australia Airlines is proud to be a key partner,” she said.

The Virgin Australia Airlines work in the community provides for many organisations such as:

·The Australian Indigenous Mentoring Program;

·St John’s Ambulance;

·St Vincent de Paul’s Society;

·The Smith Family;

·CARE Australia; and

·The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute

Starlight Children’s Foundation CEO Louise Baxter said the partnership with Virgin Australia Airlines allowed the Foundation to make children’s wishes come true.

“Starlight grants a life changing Starlight Wish every day and most of these require the child and their family to travel.  This partnership with Virgin Australia will be a wonderful contribution to the Starlight Wish Granting program, enabling us to provide a once in a lifetime wish for these children at a time when they need something positive in their life,” she said.

Ms Keighery said the Group was thrilled to be able to contribute to the Starlight Children’s Foundation at such a wonderful milestone such as the 7000th wish.
