Samoan Netball Association Teams Up With Polynesian Blue

Polynesian Blue has announced its first national sports sponsorship in Samoa, teaming up with the Samoan Netball Association as it sets its sights on the World Netball Championships 2007 in Auckland.

The partnership deal is being signed in Apia today prior to the Samoan netball team playing an international test match against Singapore.

The signing complements recent sports sponsorship signed by Virgin Blue Airlines, including the rugby league team the South Sydney Rabbitohs and rugby union team the Queensland Reds, in Australia.

Polynesian Blue spokesperson, Amanda Bolger, said the sponsorship deal will see the airline helping the Samoan Netball Association with travel around the Pacific, including flights on Pacific Blue.

“We have been very heartened by the level of support extended to Polynesian Blue by the people of Samoa since our launch and this sponsorship agreement with the Samoan Netball Association is an excellent platform for us to return that support and get behind the community in which we are proud to operate.”

Samoan Netball Association spokesperson, Noumea Simi, said the organisation is delighted to have Polynesian Blue on board.

“The sponsorship is great timing for us with the South Pacific Games being held in Apia in September and the World Netball Championships in Auckland in November.

“It’s wonderful to be teaming up with Polynesian Blue as we look forward to a successful international netball season.”

The airline’s Auckland-based Sales Manager, Taulapapa Maggie Jenks, will be in Apia on Friday to co-sign the sponsorship agreement, which will run until the end of this year’s world championships.

Samoa is sixth in the World Netball Championship rankings following its performance at the last world championships in 2003 in Jamaica.
