Virgin Blue Announces Appointment Of Heather Jeffery As General Manager, Public Affairs

Virgin Blue is delighted to announce the appointment of Heather Jeffery to the newly created role of General Manager, Public Affairs, Virgin Blue.

Heather brings with her two decades of extensive airline experience from within the Australian and New Zealand aviation markets as well as a strong background in corporate and marketing communications with companies including ICI, Australian Airlines, and most recently as Group Public Affairs Manager (Australia) for Ansett and Air New Zealand.

She has a Bachelor of Business (Communication) and has acted as a private consultant to other organisations in the airlines, tourism and financial services sectors.

As General Manager, Public Affairs, Heather joins the expanded Virgin Blue senior management team and will be working closely with and reporting directly to Virgin Blue Chief Executive Brett Godfrey. She will be responsible for masterminding the low fare airline’s strategic communications direction as well as both external and internal communications.

Virgin Blue Chief Executive Brett Godfrey said, “We have always respected her work in the industry, even when she was with the opposition, and we are confident that she will be a tremendous addition to our senior management team. Her rapport with people, combined with her proven management skills and brand appreciation will stand her in good stead to provide strategic direction within Virgin Blue’s Public Affairs portfolio.”

“Her sound knowledge, comprehensive understanding and astute insight into the Australian airline industry will prove a great asset to Virgin Blue as we move forward and continue to evolve within the framework that has already been put in place. As we move into our next exciting phase, Heather will help cement Virgin Blue’s unique position as both the low fare and service oriented industry leader,” said Brett Godfrey.

Heather will be starting full time early in the New Year.
