Sydney Harbour run

Business travel might disrupt your fitness routine, but it doesn't need to destroy it. Embrace the change of scene and kick start a busy day of meetings by getting those endorphins going. Sydney has hundreds of great work out options perfect for time-strapped travellers –you just need to know where to look.Luckily, we do. Discoverour pick of the best ways to workout when you're on business in Sydney.

Walk the Sydney Harbour

Sydney's CBD has no shortage of scenic walks and runs to enjoy regardless of your fitness ability and it's an easy way to see the sights while you're at it. Choose a route that takes you right past the city’s most famous landmarks: start at Circular Quay and follow the path around to the Opera House, then onward to the Botanic Gardens beyond.

Once you’re inside the grounds there's plenty of different paths to follow, but one of the most popular routes is to the famous Mrs Macquarie's Chair lookout point. It's about two kilometres and offers flat, even terrain until you get to the stone chair. Make the short climb, catch your breath and then stretch out with incredible views over the harbour.

iPhone users can also check out the free Sydney Walker app, which comes complete with dozens of different routes for walks and runs all over the city.

Make a splash at Prince Alfred Park

Right in the heart of Sydney and just steps away from Central station is Prince Alfred Park Pool. The fully accessible, heated outdoor pool is perfect if you want to swim a few laps or just relax and recharge after a long day. Poolside there's also a large sitting area where you can stretch out, plus a café serving light, fresh meals and coffee to fill you up after a swim. Great change room facilities also mean you can squeeze in a swim before work, on your lunch hour, or even in between meetings. Prince Alfred Pool is open daily 6am to 7pm.

Try Yoga By The Sea

There's cycle hire available from Centennial Park Cycles right inside in the park and plenty of paths and trails that are easy to navigate and explore. The most popular route, called the Grand Drive Circuit, is relatively flat and easy 4-kilometre loop. Many of the other popular paths connect to the circuit as well, so you never need to worry about getting lost.

Centennial Park Cycles is open daily from 8 am to 5 pm
