Start Strong: Where to Workout When on Business in Brisbane

Keeping a fitness routine can be challenging enough, but adding business travel into the mix can make it downright impossible. Don't leave your lycra gathering dust the next time you hop on a flight to Brisbane. We've picked out some of the best workout options in the heart of the city, perfect for drop-ins and business travellers alike.
Make a splash at Streets Beach
Not only a hugely popular spot in South Bank, Streets Beach also holds the title of Australia’s only inner-city man-made beach. And while you may be in the heart of Brisbane, the white, sandy shores and tropical foliage will make you feel like you're on holiday. Best of all, it's free to swim and patrolled year-round by lifeguards, with the nearby Boat Pool less than a minute's walk away for days when the beach proves too busy.
Streets Beach reopens in September
Run across Story Bridge

One of Brisbane's most photographed landmarks, Story Bridge also presents an excellent challenge for the visiting runner. Take in this popular tourist attraction with this simple route: run across the bridge towards South Bank, then head onward to Kangaroo Point. The path follows the banks of the Brisbane River and is a great way to explore the city while getting the endorphins flowing, too. Need an extra challenge? Take on the cliff stairs once you reach Kangaroo Point. The steep stairway is a popular spot for Brisbane fitness obsessives, and the view from the top is well worth a pause while you catch your breath.
Hike at Mount Coot-tha Forest
If you're in Brisbane for the weekend, a hike up Mount Coot-tha is a great way to appreciate the local scenery. From the observation deck you can spot all of Brisbane's best landmarks, then retire to the café, restaurant or bar to fuel up before taking on one of the bushwalking trails in the vicinity. In addition to the walking tracks, there's dozens of mountain bike trails and even a few horse riding trails, too.
Get down(ward dog) to the music

Yo! Yoga isn't your average vinyasa. Instead of the soothing sound of silence, Yo! classes are set to the upbeat tempo of pop and hip hop to get your energy flowing. There's a slow RnB vinyasa class to help you get back into alignment, or a fast and strong flow set to songs designed to help you feel empowered and motivated. If you prefer a more traditional style or want to find other drop-in classes around the city, Classpass has you covered. In addition to studios like Yo! Yoga, this convenient app lets you search and book classes in Brisbane and 35 other cities around the world. Perfect for jetsetters regularly juggling flights to Sydney, Melbourne and beyond.
