Discover the South Coast

Jervis Bay greets visitors with clear, calm turquoise coves, enchanting national park lands, one of the world’s most pristine beaches, Hyams Beach.

A narrow coastal belt that stretches from Wollongong in the north to Eden in the south, the district encompasses verdant and spirited regions like the City of Shoalhaven, Bega Valley and Jervis Bay Territory.

Fly into Sydney, hire a car and meander your way down the stunningly scenic South Coast.

Just an over and hour-and-a-half drive south of Sydney, the charming township of Kiama exudes a transfixing beauty and boasts a famous blow hole. Neighboring hilltop village, Gerringong is also captivating, flanked by rolling green peaks, blue ocean and celebrated surf breaks.

Three hours’ drive east of Canberra, Jervis Bay greets visitors with clear, calm turquoise coves, enchanting national park lands, and one of the world’s most pristine beaches, Hyams Beach.

Moving further south, the highway meets back up with the coast at Ulladulla, a town surrounded by rich natural locales  such as Morton National Park, Lake Conjola, South Pacific Heathland Reserve and Mollymook Beach  and that is famous for its fresh seafood.

Located at the point at which the Clyde River meets the Pacific Ocean, 40 minutes’ drive from Ulladulla, Batemans Bay is another popular seafood hotspot, particularly celebrated for oysters and game fishing.

Fishing is also on the agenda an hour and a half drive south on the Sapphire Coast, where charismatic villages like Bermagui and Tathra are renowned for their deep sea fishing and wharf fishing.

Flanked to the north by Mimosa Rocks National Park, a 17 kilometre coastline dotted with sea caves and towering rock stacks, and to the south by the isolated beaches, lakes and rugged cliffs of Bournda National Park, Tathra is a jewel in the Sapphire Coast’s crown.

Beyond Tathra, Merimbula and Eden (New South Wales’ southernmost town) wrap up the journey with picturesque seaside settings laden with relaxing costal vibes.
