Alana's Tasting Australia Tips

If you are planning a trip to Adelaide, ensure you coincide your time during the Tasting Australia food festival.

The week long festival running from May 1-8 is a celebration of South Australian produce and food heroes and I have done all the hard work for you and pick the best of the best events on offer.

Adelaide CBD

Town Square is the heart of Tasting Australia and here you can discover the best of local produce through Eat and Think sessions. Cooking demonstrations will be on show daily as well as panel discussions chatting about all things food.

A Few of My Favourite Things walking tours will unearth the secret haunts of some of South Australia’s best-known food heroes such as Maggie Beer, Cheong Liew, Callum Hann, Jessie Spilby and Adam Liew.

How Sweet It Is at Mrs Harris’ shop will allow you to indulge in a little art and sugar therapy. Think icebergs of meringue, lava-like syrups, textures and colours of ancient formations with all their swirls and folds.

Sausage Making Class with Feast Fine Foods at the Adelaide Central Market will guide you through the whole process of making great tasting sausages. Be creative and come up with you own flavour combinations, get you hands dirty and make your own creations to share with your family and friends.

Barossa Valley

Jacob’s Creek Food and Wine Matching Masterclass and Lunch will usher you into the world of combining flavours and tastes and take your guilty pleasure of food and wine drinking to a whole other level.

Saltram Underground Tour and Chef’s Feast will have you discovering the hidden secrets of the 150 year old Saltram Estate before making your way through five indulgent courses of regional food lovingly prepared by expert chefs.

Multi region

For a truly luxurious and indulgent way to explore the region, join the two day-one night Epicurean Way Tour which seamlessly links together the four iconic wine regions of McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills, Barossa and Clare Valley. Here you will unearth the way they grow, harvest and serve the incredible produce that South Australia has to offer.
