3 ways to travel and nail your New Year's resolutions

We’re now officially into the second half of 2019. If you've set yourself some New Year's resolutions but are falling behind in achieving them, then fear not.  By carefully curating your upcoming holidays, it is possible to plan a holiday that provides a much needed get-away and an opportunity to knock those resolutions over.

Here are three ways to tick off your New Year’s resolutions while holidaying in Australia this year.

New Year’s resolution #1: get fit.

Tick it off by…taking a hike.

If getting fit is the priority for 2019, why not combine your next holiday with a trek across some beautiful Australian landscape? We are lucky enough to have some of the best  day treks and multi-day hikes in the world right in our own backyard. What’s more, many are comfortably accessible from great holiday destinations around the country, making it easy to plan an excellent vacation. Plan a spring vacation to the Gold Coast and stride out on the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk or head to Melbourne for a glorious summer of sport and take on the Great Ocean Walk while you're there.  If you're in Darwin for a Northern Territory experience, there's the famed Larapinta Trail to tackle or down south, the Cradle Mountain Huts Track is a popular hike for visitors to Hobart. The opportunities for New Year's resolution success are endless.

New Year’s resolution #2: learn a new skill.

Tick it off by…hitting the slopes

There’s still time to get in on the action that is the Australian ski season and if you’ve never skied before, this is your chance to learn a new skill while having a blast on the slopes. Book into a group class or fast-track your skiing education with a private lesson. What’s more, there are plenty of great classes and activities to keep the kids entertained. Hit up the slopes at Perisher or Thredbo in southern New South Wales or Falls Creel, Mount Hotham or Mount Buller in Victoria and get busy ticking this one of your New Year's resolution list.

New Year’s resolution #3: see more of Australia.

Tick it off by…taking a driving holiday.

If your New Year’s resolutions included experiencing more of Australia, then consider joining the growing number of holiday makers exploring our vast country by camper trailer or caravan. There are plenty of ways to see more of Australia by road; experience the spectacular Victorian coastline along the Great Ocean Road, take in the vastness of the Australian desert with a drive across the Nullarbor Plain, journey through the dramatic wilderness that is Tasmania’s east coast or journey down the Pacific Coast from Brisbane to Sydney and take in some of the countries most beautiful beaches, rainforests and bushland.

Get to it!

So, there you have it. Start planning your next holiday today and you’ll be ticking off those New Year’s resolutions in no time. If you’re feeling inspired, head over to the Virgin Australia website and take advantage of the great value fares on offer.
