Virgin Australia Announces New Service Between Brisbane and Moranbah


Virgin Australia today announced that it will commence flights between Brisbane and Moranbah in regional Queensland on 2 April 2013.

Virgin Australia’s ATR Turboprop aircraft1 will initially operate two daily return flights on weekdays, increasing to three daily return flights from 15 April 2013. On weekends, Virgin Australia will operate one daily return flight every Sunday.

Merren McArthur, Group Executive of Alliances, Network and Yield said, “Moranbah is situated in the heart of the Bowen Basin and we are pleased to be supporting both the local community and the resources industry by bringing much needed competition to this market.

“Virgin Australia launched the highly fuel efficient and comfortable ATR-72 turboprop aircraft in October 2011 and since then, we have been expanding our operations throughout regional Queensland.

“Travellers will now have more options for flights between Brisbane and Moranbah and will be able to take advantage of Virgin Australia’s award-winning loyalty program, Velocity Frequent Flyer2.

“We look forward to bringing Virgin Australia’s exceptional service to the Moranbah community and will continue to look for more opportunities to expand in regional Queensland”, Ms McArthur said.
