Virgin Australia GDS Booking Policy

Virgin Australia is committed to ensuring agents have the necessary tools to enable the correct use of the GDS.

The Virgin Australia GDS Booking Policy is intended to help you by ensuring maximum availability is offered by removing bookings that may not materialise, while also assisting in reducing distribution costs incurred by Virgin Australia as a result of improper GDS booking practice.

Virgin Australia would like to remind agents to ensure you are following the correct GDS booking practices for Virgin Australia bookings at all times, as outlined in the Virgin Australia GDS Booking Policy. The policy has been updated as a result of a change to the Agency Debit Memo (ADM) Fee applicable to Married Segment violations. The charge for Married Segment violations is now AUD250.00 per passenger per segment.

Please note: Virgin Australia audits all booking transactions to identify non-compliant booking practices and may contact individual agents to query their compliance, and where appropriate, Virgin Australia may also restrict an agency’s access to Virgin Australia inventory. Virgin Australia reserves the right to issue agents with an ADM or invoice to recover distribution costs incurred as a result of breaches to this policy.

Please refer to the Virgin Australia GDS Booking Policy located on the 'Policies and Guides' tab on the Agency Hub for more information.

Disabled Person Needing Assistance (DPNA) SSR

Virgin Australia is pleased to offer guests with non-obvious disabilities the opportunity to travel as a Disabled Person Needing Assistance (DPNA) on Virgin Australia operated domestic, international-short haul and international long-haul services.

What is a DPNA?

A DPNA is applied to a guest who requires specific assistance due to conditions such as mental illness, psychological disabilities, autism and other non-obvious disabilities when travelling.

A DPNA SSR can be added with a free text remark via the GDS to each flight where the guest requires specific assistance. Please note, the free text remark must only document the assistance that is required, not the nature of the disability or any sensitive information about the guest.

Assistance may commence at check in, continue through the required security and government screening points where required, and to the aircraft.  Virgin Australia may also assist on the arrival of the DPNA guest from the aircraft to the baggage collection.

Guests travelling as DPNA must identify themselves to Virgin Australia ground staff at check-in.
