V Australia Crew Take the Plunge at Aviation Australia

Australia’s newest international airline, V Australia, is continuing its steady march towards its scheduled take-off, with the first group of Cabin Crew trainers being put through their paces today.

The 11 Cabin Crew trainers and Development Managers are demonstrating V Australia’s Cabin Crew training course to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to gain certification to begin training the first group of new Cabin Crew recruits.

The course takes in all aspects of Cabin Crew training including in-flight safety and emergency procedures.

While the V Australia training facility is based in Mascot, Sydney, today’s CASA certification demonstration will be held at Brisbane’s Aviation Australia facility. It includes “water survival” training to certify crew to operate on aircraft that fly long distances over water (such as trans-Pacific). The crew will go through a “ditch drill” scenario including the use of the slide raft and various water survival techniques.

The training certification is a critical component for V Australia and a significant milestone for the airline.

The first Cabin Crew training course will begin on Monday 1 September with 26 new recruits who, once trained and certified, will take their place in aviation history as the launch crew for V Australia.

The six week course will cover all aspects of in-flight service and safety as well as familiarising the crew with the V Australia in-flight product and facilities in all three classes, International Business, International Premium Economy and International Economy.

Meanwhile, the training of pilots is continuing at V Australia’s Silverwater training centre where the new $14-million Boeing 777-300ER simulator is being used around the clock for pilot endorsement training. While recruiting for the initial group of pilots has almost been completed, V Australia is continuing its recruitment efforts in preparation for the arrival of additional aircraft in 2009.

Applications for both Cabin Crew and Pilot roles within V Australia can be directed to: with applications closing on 24 August 2008
