Virgin Australia Check-in is located in Terminal 1, Level 7, Aisle F of Hong Kong International Airport (HKG).

The airport boasts numerous food and shopping opportunities both before and after security and immigration. With more than 150 food and drink outlets and shops including gift retailers, designer boutiques and duty-free shopping across Terminals 1, 2 and Midfield, be sure to leave ample time to look around while travelling through HKIA. A pre-order and pick-up service for duty-free products are available and be sure to confirm liquid restrictions at the boarding gate upon purchase.

The Airport also contains a cinema and Aviation Discovery Centre. 

Departure Information

Airport Check in

Virgin Australia counters will open for Check-in 3 hours prior to departure and close 1 hour prior to departure.


SkyPier at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) provides speedy ferry services for transfer passengers. SkyPier currently serves the nine ports in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) and Macao. Passengers can tag through their baggage from PRD or Macao to Virgin Australia flights from Hong Kong to Australia but check in at SkyPier to obtain boarding pass upon arriving by ferry.

Sky Pier Check-in Hours: 0730 to 2 hours prior to flight departure time. Available on day of air travel only. For details see Ferry Transfer to/from Mainland China and Macao

In town Check-in

Virgin Australia guests can also check- in and drop bags on the day of travel at the following MTR stations on the Airport Express Line:

  • Hong Kong Station
  • Kowloon Station

Day prior check-in is also available to guests without checked luggage.

Open Hours: 0700 and available until 2hours prior to flight departure time. Guests must hold a valid MTR ticket to access MTR Check-ins.

Flight Departures

Virgin Australia flights depart from Level 6 of Midfield Concourse. Following security and immigration in Terminal 1, follow terminal signs and escalator down to the Automated People Mover for Gates 201-230.

Arrival Information

Virgin Australia flights will arrive at Level 5, Midfield Concourse.

Baggage Carousels are located in the Arrivals Hall in Terminal one. You will be required to take the Automated People Mover from Midfield Concourse to Terminal One. Disembark the aircraft and follow signs to Arrivals Hall/ Baggage Collection. If you have a connecting flight to catch, please follow the below steps:

  1. On arrival into Midfield Concourse, follows signs to Transfer Desk M1, Arrivals Level (Level 5) to confirm onward flight details and to collect boarding passes. Guests connecting within Midfield Concourse can use the security screening point near M1 transfer desk to transfer to Departures Level 6.

  2. Changing terminals. If your next flight departs from another terminal, visit the M1 Transfer Desk or take the Automated People Mover from Level 5 directly to Terminal 1 and follow signs to Transfer Desk E1 for flight information and boarding passes. From here, guests can proceed via security screening to Level 6 departures in Terminal 1.

Lounge Access

Access for eligible Virgin Australia guests is in the Hong Kong Airlines Club Autus Lounge, located on Level 7, Midfield Concourse Terminal (Close to gate 209)

Transport Information

Parking Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) offers more than 3,000 public parking spaces in the three car parks.
Train The Airport Express links HKIA directly to Hong Kong's central business district and buses connect the airport with most of the city. The 35.3km journey between the Airport and the city takes as little as 24 minutes.
Taxi Taxis and shuttle buses are available outside the terminal in the centre island.

Airport Facilities

Toilets Toilets are located throughout the airport; disabled toilet facilities are also available.
Baby Change Rooms Baby change rooms are located throughout the airport.
Internet Free WiFi is available throughout the airport. 
ATMs ATMs and currency change counters are located throughout both terminals. There is a bank located in Terminal 2. 
Assistance Guests requiring assistance can be escorted to and from departure/arrival gates. Ask a team member for assistance.
Baggage Hold Baggage Hold services are available with Terminal 1 and 2 of Hong Kong International Airport.
