Passengers vote Virgin Australia as the Best Airline in Australia and Pacific region


LONDON, UK - Virgin Australia enjoyed a double success at the 2012 World Airline Awards, with air travellers voting Virgin Australia as Best Airline in the Australia and Pacific region, and also the airline with the Best Staff Service in the Australia and Pacific region.

The Survey, conducted by global aviation research organization SKYTRAX, polled over 18 million business and leisure air travellers from 100 countries, with the winners of these passenger's choice awards announced at the Farnborough Airshow, UK on 12th July 2012.

"This is a great year of success for Virgin Australia, indicating that passengers are clearly impressed with the Virgin Australia product and service package. Securing the Best Airline Australia / Pacific and Best Airline Staff Service Australia / Pacific titles is something of a victory over the more established legacy carriers that have previously taken the top prizes in these categories," said Edward Plaisted of SKYTRAX.

Air travellers were surveyed by telephone, questionnaires and online about their experiences with airlines on the ground and in the air during a 10-month period. The survey measured passenger satisfaction across more than 38 key performance indicators of airline front-line product and service, including check-in, boarding, onboard seat comfort, cabin cleanliness, food, beverages, in-flight entertainment and staff service. The Survey covered over 200 airlines, from the largest international airlines to smaller domestic carriers.
