Advance Australia Fare! $1 Internet Flights Up For Grabs25/01/2002
Virgin Blue's Biggest Ever $1 Fare Offer For Australia Day
More than 10,000 $1* one-way flights will be made available in Virgin Blue’s largest and lowest ever special fare offer, as part of this weekend’s Australia Day celebrations.
Australia’s only low fare carrier has over 10,000 seats up for grabs, for flights departing Virgin Blue’s home base of Brisbane to Adelaide, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Mackay, Melbourne, Sydney and Townsville.
The flights go on sale at 5.00pm Brisbane time (6pm AEDT) this afternoon and can only be booked over the Internet.
Virgin Blue has upgraded its web servers to allow the $1 fares to be booked without interfering with normal corporate, travel agent and Guest web bookings.
Virgin Blue spokesperson, Amanda Bolger said, “This is by far the biggest and cheapest seat sale Virgin Blue has offered to date and as Australia’s low fare airline, we are in a position to do these outrageous sales every now and then.
It’s our little way of saying thank you to all the Australian’s who have made it clear that they value an airline that is committed to keeping the air fair and fun”.
She continued, “With so many of the Australia Day celebration $1 fares on offer, thousands of people can afford to jump on one of our brand new red jets and visit their long lost Aunty May, indulge in a mid-week rendezvous or surprise a client by flying in to take them out to lunch with the money they saved on the flight.”
The $1 Internet offer is available for 1 day (5pm Friday January 25 until midnight Saturday January 26) and can be booked by:
(1) Logging on to www.virginblue.com.au (the sale is for Internet bookings only)
(2) Look up your preferred travel dates remembering that the $1 offer will be available on selected off peak mid-week (Tues/Weds/Thurs) flights departing Brisbane.
(3) A return flight at Virgin Blue’s everyday low fares can also be booked online.
(4) Get packing and get out of town!
This offer is available for just one day from 5pm today until midnight tomorrow Saturday January 26 (QLD time) or until sold out, and is for travel on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from February 5 until 14 March 2002.
Seats are limited, subject to availability and may not be available on peak flights or peak days.
“We think it’s the cheapest one way ticket you'll get out of Brisbane and it cements Virgin Blue’s position as Australia’s only true low fare carrier”, Amanda Bolger finished.
Virgin Blue currently services every State and Territory in the country. The airline recently announced an $8.2-million trading profit for the half year ending September and is currently expanding its fleet of brand new Next Generation Boeing 737 aircraft
