Virgin Blue Hits Its First Century (100 Days)!11/12/2000
and Their Best Runs Are Still To Come...
This weekend is significant for Virgin Blue Airlines - it marks one hundred days since Australia's newest airline started flying.
On reaching this milestone, Virgin Blue is continuing to expand with more recruitment, additional aircraft, new destinations and increased frequency. With way over two hundred thousand guests having flown on its bright red planes, the airline is well ahead of all budget targets.
Chief Executive, Brett Godfrey, stated, "Our load factor, the number of Guests flying with us, is averaging 78% which is a world record for a start -up airline. While we've put a hundred great days behind us, we are more focused on making our airline the people's choice for the next hundred years and beyond."
Brett added, "People are giving us a go, because of our low fares but they're coming back for our unique style and service. This steady growth shows that while we continue to attract leisure travellers', we are grabbing an increasing share of the business market."
Virgin Blue is rapidly expanding. The fleet now comprises five Boeing 737-400 planes and the company is looking forward to the arrival in April of the first of its ten brand new Boeing 737 aircraft straight off the production line in Seattle.
