Virgin Australia takes to the skies

04/05/2011

Virgin Australia today added a brand new Boeing 737-800 and an Airbus A330-200 aircraft to its domestic fleet, revealing the design of its new Economy and Business Class cabins.

Complete with luxury leather seating, contemporary interior design, high quality in-flight products and a gourmet menu designed by Luke Mangan, the aircraft demonstrate the superb new in-flight experience aboard Virgin Australia.

The new Boeing 737-800 Business and Economy Class interiors will be rolled out across the majority of Virgin Australia’s current domestic fleet by the end of the year. Business Class is already available for sale on the Airbus A330-200 and will be available for sale on the Boeing 737-800 in the last quarter of 2011.

Virgin Australia CEO John Borghetti said the redesigned domestic fleet would offer unprecedented comfort and services for guests.

“Virgin Australia will provide a new standard of airline travel in Australia. Our new business and economy class has been designed from the ground up by experts in their fields. We have listened to what today’s traveller wants from an airline and we are incorporating that into every feature and every part of our service, while maintaining competitive pricing.

“Business class guests can look forward to complimentary access to our Lounges, priority check-in, a seamless travel experience and luxurious cabin space and seating.

“Our economy class incorporates a new modern design with the new Luke Mangan-inspired retail menu and the superb customer service for which Virgin Blue is renowned. We will still offer low airfares, keeping the competition in the sky high”, Mr Borghetti said.

Virgin Australia’s Creative Director Hans Hulsbosch said the ultra-modern aircraft interior will provide guests with a luxury experience of relaxation, comfort and excellence in service.

“The seating and experience of these cabins has been designed to say contemporary quality. The aircraft are stunning in their visual appeal, with a very modern simplistic look that creates more space in the cabin”, Mr Hulsbosch said.

Two of the luxury Airbus A330-200 aircraft will commence operations this month, providing a three times daily service between Sydney and Perth from June 2011. Another two Airbus A330-200 aircraft will commence operation in early 2012.

The Boeing 737-800 features the innovative Sky Interior, with larger overhead lockers, mood lighting and sculpted sidewalls, designed to provide guests with a feeling of spaciousness and light.
