Pacific Blue’s first flights back into Christchurch today carried emergency services workers to assist in the recovery effort after yesterday’s devastating earthquake.
Immediately after the quake, the Virgin Blue Group of Airlines contacted the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed our commitment to the recovery of the Canterbury region by offering flights for emergency services personnel.
As soon as Christchurch Airport re-opened today, Pacific Blue enacted plans to operate two flights into Christchurch and two flights out:
The outbound flights carried a total of 339 people out of the disaster zone while this evening’s flight from Brisbane will carry Australian Medical Assistance Team personnel to assist in the recovery effort.
The airline group is also offering flexible travel amendments for Guests booked to travel to/from Christchurch up to and including Friday 25 February, 2011 who wish to change their travel plans.
