VIRGIN BLUE GROUP OF AIRLINES BRISBANE DOMESTIC TERMINAL TO UNDERGO REFURBISHMENT25/11/2010
BRISBANE 25 November 2010: The Virgin Blue Group of Airlines Brisbane Domestic Terminal will undergo a multi-million major refurbishment that will include an upgrade of existing facilities on both the arrivals and departures concourse.
Group Executive Operations Sean Donohue said the work would commence today wand was expected to be completed by March 2011.
“This is the first major overhaul of our facilities at Brisbane Domestic Terminal since we moved in more than 10 years ago.
“There are more than 15,000 Guests and visitors to this terminal every day. Brisbane remains one of our busiest airports with more than 145 flights each day and is a hub for regional and international connections.
“When the renovations are complete, our Guests will enjoy spending time in the terminal where the surroundings are modern and fresh along with better access to areas such as baggage collection.
“The renovations will be completed in the first quarter of 2011 and will provide a new level of service and design that appeals to both the corporate and leisure customer,” Mr. Donohue said.
Other upgrades include:
• Modern amenities, including parents rooms; and
• Improved lighting and upgrade of general finishes within aerobridges.
Mr. Donohue said that while contractors would keep walkways clear, there would be hoarding in place and Guests are asked to be mindful of construction areas.
“We apologise to our Guests for any disruptions these renovations will make, but believe the wait will be worth it,” Mr. Donohue said.
