Sydney-Canberra Update - First Flight To Launch 6 June21/03/2003
The planned launch next month of Virgin Blue’s new Canberra-Sydney service has been pushed back just over 5 weeks following the delay in aircraft availability to service the new route.
A worldwide shortage of the popular 737NG aircraft favoured by growing low fare airlines globally, means the new start date for the Canberra-Sydney flights is June 6.
The Virgin Blue team is in the process of notifying all Guests booked on the Canberra-Sydney flights prior to the new launch date and is offering affected Guests a number of options including:
A full refund
The ability to change to an alternative travel date following the launch of the new service
For Guests booked with connections (i.e. Canberra-Sydney-Perth), alternative flight options such as Canberra-Melbourne-Perth
An alternative flight at similar times on another airline
In keeping with Virgin Blue’s tradition of unmatched customer service, the airline has taken the extraordinary measure to offer affected Guests $50* off a future Virgin Blue flight to apologise for the inconvenience.
The airline is taking this step to show its appreciation for those Guests who were the first to jump on board and support Virgin Blue’s expanding services.
The Virgin Blue team has been heartened by the response to the upcoming launch of the Canberra-Sydney flights and greatly appreciates the understanding and support from travellers.
