Get Swept Away To Broome With Great Value Air Fares

Virgin Blue will touch down for the first time at Broome International Airport, heralding the launch of its direct Adelaide-Broome service.

The airline is the first ever to operate scheduled direct flights between the two key destinations, and are expected to stimulate a brand new market for tourism in both directions.

The route is the airline’s newest addition to its network, following strong demand for flights from southern capitals where the temperature is dropping, to the warmth of the beautiful Kimberley region.

In true Virgin Blue style, the Adelaide-Broome launch flight will involve celebratory in-flight activities including free champagne, face painting and a few other surprises for Guests on board.

An in-flight auction will also be held to raise money for the Broome Surf Lifesaving Club.

Virgin Blue has had a strong response to the new service, and with forward bookings trending well, the airline is confident it will prove to be yet another popular and affordable Virgin Blue WA option.

Virgin Blue’s fantastic everyday fares between Adelaide and Broome start from $320 one-way on the net, with the Fully Flexible fare of $620 one-way on the net, 33% lower than the Qantas equivalent fare of $931.

Virgin Blue spokesman David Huttner said, “Up until now, visitors to Broome have been forced to pay ridiculous airfares and while it’s always been seen as an exciting place to go, people were being charged more to fly to Broome than overseas.

We have put an end to that and are confident that Virgin Blue’s affordable fares will make Broome a more accessible and attractive option for tourists looking for somewhere both exotic and close to home.”

The new route reflects Virgin Blue’s strong push to nurture domestic tourism, especially in regional Australia.

The flight will depart Adelaide every Saturday evening at 10.10pm, arriving into Broome at 12.45am before turning around at 1.20am and heading back to Adelaide for an early morning arrival of 6.05am. Convenient connections are also available between Broome and Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Virgin Blue has introduced this service for the winter season and will look at continuing it on a year round basis, depending on support.

The launch of the Adelaide-Broome flight coincides with another Virgin Blue inaugural flight today between Sydney and the Whitsunday Coast taking Virgin Blue list of destinations to 18, with a strong focus on domestic regional tourism.
