Pacific Blue Announces Direct Flights From Christchurch To Sydney
To celebrate the centenary of powered flight, Pacific Blue Airlines has announced it will add yet another direct flight to its growing network before it has even taken off.
The low fare airline, which launches on 29 January, will introduce direct flights from Christchurch to Sydney from 10 March, to complement the soon-to-be launched flights from Christchurch to Brisbane and Melbourne. The addition of the Sydney flight to the Pacific Blue route network now means 3 daily flights to Australia from the South Island.
A special “wow” launch fare is now available with $99* seats up for grabs and on sale from now until 25 December 2003, for travel between 10 March to 30 November 2004.
Once the sale fare is over, low fares will continue with Mid-Week Mini-Fares available for $149* one-way on the net. Pacific Blue’s Fully Flexible fare will be $399* one-way, 42% cheaper than the competition.
Pacific Blue Chief Executive, Tony Marks said, “To once again prove we are serious about providing low fares, we have a special launch sale fare of only NZ $99* one way between Christchurch and Sydney with thousands of seats available.”
He added, “We are confident that travelling on Pacific Blue will be an enjoyable and exciting experience and we want as many people as possible to enjoy the great service.”
CEO of Christchurch and Canterbury Marketing Ian Bougen said, “This is great news for Christchurch and for the South Island and will prove especially beneficial in terms of additional capacity during peak demand periods.”
Ian Bougen added, “This is also fantastic news for the convention and incentive industry in the Canterbury region. The convention market out of Australia is currently worth just over $3 million to us and this is only 10% of the total convention market.
The potential to grow this market is, therefore, enormous and Pacific Blue’s daily service from Sydney will definitely help us increase this.”
Meanwhile, Pacific Blue has also announced a daily Wellington to Sydney service. The $99* fare is available for both the Christchurch and Wellington flights to Sydney and is on sale from today until 25 December and is for travel until from 10 March until 30 November 2004.
