China Passport and Visa Information

Passport

Passport and/or passport replacing document must be valid on arrival.

Note: different passport validity may be required when applying for a visa.

Visa

A visa must be arranged prior to travel to China (People’s Rep.). Contact your nearest embassy or consulate of China (People’s Rep.) for detailed information on visa requirements.

Visa on Arrival

Visa on arrival may be granted only when arrangements have been made with immigration authorities prior to travel. A letter stating that a visa will be issued on arrival is required before departure to China.

This facility is available at limited ports (incl. Beijing and Shanghai).

Additional Information

Valid visas in expired passports are accepted provided traveller is also holding a valid passport of the same nationality.

Travel on a one-way ticket is accepted with evidence of sufficient funds for stay and all documents required for next destination.
