Changing Your Flight
Flight changes can be made on our website via Manage Bookings (in most cases) or through our Guest Contact Centre (GCC).
Fare Difference
If you wish to change your flight, your new fare price will be equal to or more than your original booking. You must pay any fare differences, plus any applicable change fees.
Note: Changes made via our Guest Contact Centre will be charged at Guest Contact Centre fare levels and may be higher than Internet fares.
Flight Changes for Food and Drink Inclusive Fares
If you change to a flight within 12 hours of departure, the advertised food and drinks of your original booking may not be available.
Currency
For international travel, the currency in which you made your original booking will apply to any changes or cancellations you make. For applicable charges in that currency, please refer to Fees and Charges in the Booking section of our website, or on your itinerary.
Fees
The applicable administrative fee reflects the fee published on our website at the time you make your request. A higher fee will apply if your fare relates to an international flight. The applicable fee applies per guest, per change/cancellation.
- Domestic fees and surcharges
- International short haul fees and surcharges
- International long haul fees and surcharges
Credits
If you cancel your flight in accordance with the fare rules, you can elect to receive either a credit or a refund. Credits can be given for all forms of payment and are available online via Manage Bookings or through the Guest Contact Centre.
Credit can only be used on the Virgin Australia network (exemptions apply – i.e. domestic and international short haul flight credits cannot be applied to international long haul flights) and must be used within 12 months of the original purchase date. If you elect to receive a credit, you cannot subsequently apply for a refund even if the fare rules permit.
To book a new flight using your credit, contact the Guest Contact Centre.
Note: Your new fare may be more expensive than your original fare. If you booked your flight using Velocity Points you can only obtain a credit, not a refund.
Refunds
If you cancel your flight in accordance with the fare rules, you can elect to receive either a credit or a refund. Refunds can be requested by contacting the Guest Contact Centre or by emailing your booking reference number, the name of the passenger and flight dates to reservations@virginaustralia.com.
Refunds are not available if you booked your flight with Velocity Points or with a credit from a previous flight.
If eligible for a refund, you can elect to receive the refund in the same form as you made the original payment, less an administrative fee.
The applicable administrative fee reflects the fee published on our website at the time you make your request. A higher fee will apply if your fare relates to an international flight. The applicable fee applies per guest, per change/cancellation.
Payments made by cash or EFTPOS will be directly refunded into your nominated Australian or New Zealand bank account. If you have booked using a credit from another Virgin Australia fare type, you will not be eligible for a refund.
