Ahead of the release of its 2013 season next week, the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) is thrilled to announce that Virgin Australia will become its first ever Principal Partner.
This is Virgin Australia's first major performing arts sponsorship and will commence from 1 September 2012.
The partnership will enable the ACO to extend its reach in Australia and overseas through the support of Virgin Australia and the use of its domestic and international flight network. Thanks to the new partnership, the ACO's 2013 season will include a total of ten tours, three more than it had previously been able to perform, and the orchestra will be able to visit new regional locations in Australia such as Mt Isa in Queensland.
"We are very excited to have Virgin Australia as the ACO's first Principal Partner" said Guido Belgiorno-Nettis, Chairman of the ACO.
"The ACO has found its perfect match in Virgin Australia - a dynamic and highly-spirited company with an ethos of innovation and vibrancy."
"The sponsorship will inject new capacity into the life of the Orchestra with an increased ability to undertake more tours domestically and internationally. I look forward to many shared adventures with Virgin Australia." Guido Belgiorno-Nettis said.
John Borghetti, CEO of Virgin Australia said "Virgin Australia is delighted to be involved with the ACO as its Principal Partner and to be associated with one of the world's most internationally renowned touring ensembles."
"As part of our repositioning of Virgin Australia as the airline of choice, we wanted to support an organisation like the ACO that represents the best of Australia and that appeals to a large cross-section of the community.
"The ACO is one of Australia's national treasures – it is revered for the unique way in which it approaches a whole range of musical performances, from classical masterpieces to innovative contemporary projects.
"The Partnership will allow the ACO to extend its touring network, to take music to more people around Australia and the rest of the world – from the main-stages of capital cities through to halls in regional Australia", John Borghetti said.
The new Partnership kicks off with a tour by the ACO Ensemble to regional Queensland in October 2012. A highlight of the tour will see ACO musicians working with the students from the Mt Isa School of the Air. All year the students learn music over the airwaves, but they're travelling hundreds of kilometres to come together in Mt Isa to play with the ACO Ensemble in a gala concert.
Further information will be made available next week with the launch of the ACO's 2013 season.
