Virgin Australia suspends NZ services

BRISBANE 16 JUNE 2011: Pacific Blue, an airline of the Virgin Australia Group of Airlines, has suspended services into and out New Zealand, effective immediately because of the volcanic ash plume.

Group Executive Operations Sean Donohue said the plume that had been in the Christchurch, Wellington and Dunedin regions had moved further north, necessitating the schedule changes.

“These cancellations are in addition to the six flights cancelled yesterday to from Australia to Christchurch and Wellington.

“Guests should check the website for regular updates of information,” Mr. Donohue said.

The flights cancelled for 16 June are:

DJ165      Auckland – Melbourne at 0630

DJ51      Auckland – Sydney at 0715

DJ85      Hamilton – Brisbane at 0715

DJ52      Sydney to Auckland at 1130

DJ169      Brisbane – Honiara at 1000

DJ168      Honiara – Brisbane at 1500

DJ182      Tonga – Sydney at 1130

DJ183      Sydney – Tonga at 1535

DJ79      Auckland – Gold Coast at 1650

DJ78      Gold Coast – Auckland at1830

DJ95      Auckland – Apia at 1725

DJ96      Apia – Auckland at 2305

DJ179      Auckland – Tonga at 0645

DJ178      Tonga – Auckland at 2355

DJ188      Brisbane – Auckland at 1910

DJ60      Melbourne – Christchurch at 0945

DJ83      Christchurch – Brisbane at 1550
