Virgin Blue Group of Airlines Announces New Group Executive Operations
BRISBANE SUNDAY 10 OCTOBER 2010: The Virgin Blue Group of Airlines has appointed Sean Donohue as Group Executive Operations on 25 October 2010.
CEO and Managing Director John Borghetti said he was delighted that Mr. Donohue would join the Group bringing more than 25 years of airline and operational experience to the role.
“Sean is an extremely experienced airline executive with 24 years at United Airlines, one of the world’s largest and most well-regarded airlines.
“His experience in domestic and international aviation will add great value to the Virgin Blue Group of Airlines.”
Mr Borghetti said that Mr. Donohue would oversee the Group’s Operations Division including the Flight Operations and Engineering at Virgin Blue and VAustralia; Ground Operations of the entire Group network; Safety; Operations Planning and New Zealand carrier, Pacific Blue.
“He will be responsible for leading our operational division to ensure it complements the Group’s overall growth strategy.
“Sean will head a Division with more than 3500 reports across diverse areas such as Line Operations across four different fleets; all mainline and regional airports; and Security,” Mr. Borghetti said.
Mr Donohue has held many senior roles including Senior Vice President Global Operations; Vice President, United Express, Ted and World-wide Operational Performance; Vice President North American Sales; and Managing Director New York.
His immediate last role was Chief Executive Officer, Designate, for a global private group bidding on the privatisation of Midway Airport in Chicago.
