Virgin Blue Launches Another Australian First
Save Time On-Line With 'Web Check-In'
Virgin Blue is the first airline in Australia to launch a progressive new online 'Web Check-In' service which allows Virgin Blue Guests to check-in for their flight from their home, office or via any internet-connected personal computer up to 24 hours before their scheduled departure time.*
The airline has launched a major print and television advertising campaign to introduce Australia to the concept which allows Guests to choose their own seats and print their own boarding passes and itineraries direct from the Virgin Blue web site.
Virgin Blue Chief Executive, Brett Godfrey, said, "Web Check-In is our latest innovation and another example of our determination to lead the way in streamlining the process of air travel. ln the same way that internet banking has sped up the process of banking, Web Check-In will change the way people travel."
"Research tells us that in an increasingly fast paced world, the new era of Australian corporate flyers are looking for time savings, smart service, no queues, and none of the airport terminal bottlenecks associated with traditional airlines. Web Check-In was developed with them in mind, it's a huge time saver for busy executives or just those who like to move faster than most. It's now possible to have your personal assistant, colleague, or if you're heading from home an internet savvy flatmate or teenager check you in before you leave for the airport."
Virgin Blue has been working with US based company 'Kinetics' to develop Web Check-In since late last year. The new service will compliment the airline's 'Blue Check' Self Service Kiosks now available in major ports.
Guests will save time by avoiding the peak period queues as they can proceed directly through the security screening points to the boarding gates. A bag drop counter in the terminal is available for checked baggage.
Web Check-In is the latest innovation in a host of technological advances introduced by the airline including the newly developed API (Application Program Interface) which enables travel agencies and companies, real time booking integration with Virgin Blue's reservations system, and the re-design and re-launch of the Virgin Blue website.
