Wireless In-flight Entertainment is a new state-of-the-art entertainment system that allows you to wirelessly stream content to your own portable device onboard. There is a server on the aircraft that holds the content and it is distributed to your device through wireless access points located throughout the aircraft.
If you’re using an iPad®, iPhone® or iPod touch® you will need to ensure you have downloaded the application on your device prior to boarding. You can get the Virgin Australia Wireless In-flight Entertainment App through the App StoreSM.
If you are using a Windows laptop, then you simply need to have the software Silverlight loaded on your device. You can ensure you have the correct version of Silverlight using the Wireless In-Flight Entertainment System Check.
The Wireless In-flight Entertainment System will be available on one of our domestic Boeing 737-800 aircraft for the initial trial. Following this, we will progressively introduce the technology on all of our Boeing 737 and Embraer aircraft.
