Air New Zealand

airnewzealandlogoVirgin Australia is proud to be a Codeshare partner with Air New Zealand – New Zealand's flag carrier.

As Trans Tasman joint venture partners we offer unprecedented choice in flights, and increased loyalty rewards through reciprocal frequent flyer programs. Virgin Australia lounge members receive reciprocal entry into Air New Zealand’s Koru Lounge (at airports throughout New Zealand and Australia) when flying Trans Tasman or domestically within New Zealand.

Based in Auckland, Air New Zealand services 26 domestic and 24 international destinations.

Check-in

You will need to check in with the carrier operating your flight.
Note: The operating carrier will be included on your itinerary and would have been clearly displayed on the website at the time of booking.

Information screens at airports display flight information concerning applicable Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand flight numbers.

Through-check

Through-check is an easy way for guests, with connecting flights with the same carrier, to check in and transfer between flights and domestic and international terminals.

  • Through-check is available to guests with connecting flights on the same carrier, who have purchased tickets within a single booking.
  • For multiple flight journeys, baggage will be tagged to the final destination. Guests will need to collect their baggage at their first point of entry when arriving into Australia or New Zealand.
  • Guests checking in for multiple flights within the same journey will be provided with a transfer wallet – with information on how to transfer from one flight or terminal to another. Note: Your baggage will be tagged through to your final destination, however you will need to proceed to either the transfer desk or check-in counters of your onward flight to check in and receive your boarding pass.
  • Guests who elect to use a self-service kiosk to check in for an Air New Zealand onward Domestic flight, will need to remove their old baggage tags and replace them with the new tags generated at the kiosk. Failure to do so could result in your baggage not being loaded onto the aircraft and or reaching your final destination.
