Virgin Australia launches new Velocity partnership for frequent diners06/06/2012
Virgin Australia today announced a partnership with bookarestaurant.com which allows Velocity members the opportunity to earn Velocity Points, by simply making an online booking and dining out at their favourite restaurant.
The custom built website is exclusive to Velocity members and provides a fast, free and convenient way to search, compare and book a table in real-time. With over 500 of Australia’s best restaurants already featured, this new website allows Velocity members to earn 300 Points per honoured restaurant booking made.
Virgin Australia’s Velocity Frequent Flyer Program General Manager, Phil Gunter said the www.bookarestaurant.com/velocity site provides a new range of membership benefits tailored to Velocity Frequent Flyer members who also like to dine out.
“We are excited to have partnered with bookarestaurant.com to launch a new dining program that allows our members to earn Points as part of their everyday spend, simply by booking a table online and dining at their favourite restaurant. We are committed in continuing to provide our members exclusive benefits and offers, and this new site is a first in the frequent flyer space,” Mr Gunter said.
Virgin Australia’s executive chef Luke Mangan sees the benefit from this initiative and both glass Brasserie at Hilton Sydney and Salt grill at the Hilton Surfers Paradise are listed as restaurants on the www.bookarestaurant.com/velocity site.
“The new site developed by bookarestaurant.com for Velocity is a fantastic initiative as it allows restaurants to be presented to over 3 million Velocity members. It’s great to see Velocity providing this service to their members, supporting local restaurants, filling more tables at venues and allowing members the opportunity to earn Points simply by making an online booking and dining out. I am pleased to have both glass Brasserie in Sydney and Salt grill Surfers Paradise included on the site,” Mr Mangan said.
bookarestaurant.com General Manager, Adam Clarke said “We are proud to be partnering with Virgin Australia to provide their 3 million Velocity members with exclusive access to our real-time bookings, special offers and authentic diner reviews for over 500 of the best restaurants in Australia.”
Velocity members can make a booking for free, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The website is directly linked to the reservation management system at all participating restaurants, reflecting real-time table availability of that particular restaurant at that particular time. Once the Velocity member makes a reservation, the booking information is communicated directly with the restaurant, and an email confirmation is instantly sent to the diner.
