Virgin Australia takes out Best Airline and Best Staff Service in Australia Pacific at World Airline Awards13/07/2012
Virgin Australia was recognised last night at the prestigious 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards for ‘Best Airline’ and ‘Best Staff Service’ in the Australia Pacific region, held in London.
The World Airline Awards are decided on by airline passengers from around the world, who judge their end-to-end airline experience in a voluntary survey. This year, the survey was carried out over a 10-month period, included over 200 domestic and international airlines and canvassed the opinions of over 18 million airline passengers.
Virgin Australia Group Executive of Brand & Customer Experience Mark Hassell said winning the awards was an outstanding achievement for the airline.
“The World Airline Awards are highly-regarded in the industry as they are the most comprehensive airline passenger satisfaction survey in the world.
“We are very proud to have achieved ‘Best Airline’ in our region as it highlights our success in repositioning Virgin Australia as the airline of choice for all market segments.
“To have won ‘Best Staff Service’ for the second consecutive year is a credit to the exceptional work of our team members and their ongoing dedication to delivering superior service to our guests.
“Over the past eighteen months, we have introduced a range of new product and service initiatives designed to enhance the travel experience and we are pleased that they are making a real difference for our guests”, Mr Hassell said.
Skytrax Chairman and CEO Edward Plaisted said: “This is a great year of success for Virgin Australia, indicating that passengers are clearly impressed with the Virgin Australia product and service package.
“Securing the Best Airline Australia / Pacific and Best Airline Staff Service Australia / Pacific titles is something of a victory over the more established legacy carriers that have previously taken the top prizes in these categories”, Mr Plaisted said.
