Virgin Blue Announces New Appointment13/05/2010
Brisbane 13th May 2010: Virgin Blue Holdings Limited today announced the appointment of Danielle Keighery as General Manager of Public Affairs to lead its communications team, effective May 17, 2010.
Ms Keighery’s appointment follows the departure of Heather Jeffery who is stepping down after 5 years in the role of General Manager Public Affairs.
Ms Keighery has worked with the Virgin Group since 2003 in various senior marketing, communications and PR positions in the Asia Pacific region.
An experienced communications manager, Ms Keighery was previously based in London where she ran global PR for a division of Nokia and prior was the Corporate Communications Director for Nokia Australia.
John Borghetti, Virgin Blue’s CEO said: “I am delighted to have Danielle on the executive team. Her extensive knowledge of the wider Group and her understanding of how growing companies communicate will be invaluable in taking Virgin Blue to the next level of its development.
“She will be working closely with the executive team on enhancing the Virgin Blue travel experience for our customers.”
Mr Borghetti also said he wished Ms Jeffery well and thanked her for her contribution to the company.
Ms Jeffery’s years with the Virgin Blue Group have seen her spearhead the launches of new international airlines Polynesian Blue Airlines and V Australia, the airline group's Australian regional and New Zealand domestic network expansions, as well as the launch of new Embraer and Boeing 777 fleets.
She was personally instrumental in the development and launch of Virgin Blue Group's carbon offset program, the world's first Government certified airline offset programme as well as the formation of Virgin Blue's Red Jet Charitable Trust which to date has raised more than $2 million for charities throughout Australia.
