VIRGIN BLUE PREMIUM ECONOMY GETS AN UPGRADE

Wednesday 26 November 2008: Virgin Blue today announced it has boosted its new Premium Economy product to provide even more value for travellers seeking to maximise their travel spend.


The airline introduced its Premium Economy option on 15th March this year following feedback from an increasing number of business Guests enthusiastic for an enhanced business friendly fare that incorporated additional benefits.


Premium Economy has proven a successful addition to Virgin Blue’s product range attracting an increasing take up by frequent flyers and corporate clients.  


From tomorrow, 27 November 2008, Premium Economy additions will include complimentary on board food and beverages (including alcohol) as well as complimentary use of Virgin Blue’s individual seat back in-flight entertainment system so flyers can catch the latest breaking news, market wrap or latest Hollywood movie.*


Virgin Blue Chief Executive, Brett Godfrey, said. “We are constantly evolving and enhancing our products to ensure we provide the best value-for-money in the business. Premium Economy was one area where we identified we could add further value by including food and entertainment in-flight so that travellers have an all-inclusive experience both on the ground and in the air”.


Brett Godfrey continued, “In the current economic climate, every cent counts whether the travel budget is coming from your own pocket or from your employers, so the new “upgraded” Premium Economy offering is going to add more value at a time when many companies are looking to trim their travel costs rather than their frequency of travelling.”


Complimentary food, beverages and individual seat back satellite TV's* including movie channels will join a suite of benefits already being enjoyed by Premium Economy travellers including:

 

·         Priority Check-in at major Australian domestic terminals

·         Priority boarding.

·      Extra space and comfort in the first three rows with enhanced room seating (aisle or window seat only) at the front of the aircraft.

Complimentary access to The Lounge (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra domestic terminals)

Complimentary checked baggage allowance up to 32kg

* Live2air is available on the majority of Virgin Blue's Boeing 737 aircraft. Live2air is not available on Virgin Blue's Embraer E170 or E190 aircraft.
