Velocity Launches Status Level Recognition For Frequent Flyers

Velocity, the award winning loyalty program of Virgin Blue, today unveiled a number of key enhancements to the program that provides greater recognition and reward to Virgin Blue's frequent flyers. Velocity has introduced three Status Levels into the program - Red, Silver and Gold. These Status Levels will provide Members with different benefits and earn rates.


Velocity has determined Members' Status Levels as if the proposition had been in place since the launch of the program nearly two years ago, which means that a number of Members will be automatically upgraded to Silver or Gold status immediately.


Virgin Blue Chief Executive, Brett Godfrey, said the enhancement of Velocity Rewards supported the airline's New World Carrier strategy.


"In the same way Virgin Blue has evolved, the Velocity loyalty program has developed from a simple reward program into a competitive loyalty program that recognises and rewards Members proportionately to their loyalty to Virgin Blue and Velocity's Program Partners."


Gold and Silver Velocity Members will be entitled to priority check-in at selected domestic airports and priority phone service through the Velocity Membership Contact Centre. Gold Members will also receive complimentary membership to The Lounge and an increased baggage allowance. Silver Members will receive a complimentary visit to The Lounge and access to a discounted annual Lounge membership rate.


In addition to Velocity Points, all Members will now also receive Status Credits for every dollar spent on fares with Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue, and Polynesian Blue.


By collecting Status Credits Members will be able to achieve and maintain Gold or Silver Membership. Points and Status Credit earn rates will vary depending on the Member's Status Level. Gold Members will earn 7 Velocity Points and 7 Status Credits; Silver Members will earn 6 Velocity Points and 6 Status Credits; and Red Members will earn 5 Velocity Points and 5 Status Credits per dollar spent on their fares. Other selected Program Partners offering Status Credits will be announced shortly.


"The introduction of Status Credits is an additional benefit for Members, who will essentially be 'doubly' rewarded for each and every transaction they make with selected Velocity Program Partners," Brett Godfrey finished.
